Knowing It's OCD Hasn't Changed What You Do
You've read enough to name it. The label fits, and the urge to check one more time is still there.
So you replay the conversation. You search for the answer that finally settles it.
None of it has an end date. There's no version of this where you've checked enough.
Life gets organized around preventing anxiety rather than actually living it.
Wondering If OCD Is Just Your Life Now?
Maybe you've wondered whether this is simply the arrangement now, and whether watching for it is the rest of the story.
That question is worth answering directly. I don't want you to become dependent on therapy to manage OCD, and my aim is for you to understand your own OCD well enough to handle it without me in the room.
Understanding how your own OCD operates is what gets you to the end of this.
Why Trying Harder for Certainty Leaves You Less Certain
Every time you chase certainty, you tell your brain the question was worth chasing, so it asks again and you feel less sure.
The compulsion works. The relief teaches the cycle to run again.
That's why psychoeducation is a large part of my work. I want you to understand how your OCD works, not simply be told what to do about it.
Build the Ability to Run This Without Me
What would it look like if OCD didn't get a vote in your next decision?
Therapy with me is behavioral and action-oriented. We talk with a purpose, and that purpose is handing the work to you.
- Recognize the cycle while it's running, without me naming it
- Understand why a compulsion feels helpful and what it reinforces
- Let a thought show up and let your afternoon keep going
- Choose which strategy fits the situation in front of you
All of it is teachable, which is why you eventually run it yourself.
Three Phases, and What You're Running by the End
Assessment & Understanding Your OCD
We map your obsessions, compulsions, avoidance, reassurance seeking, mental rituals, and triggers. We also name what you want more of in your life, so the work has something to aim at. I lead. You start seeing the pattern.
Education & Building Your Toolbox
You learn why the thought sticks and why relief keeps the cycle alive. Then we build your toolbox: ACT strategies, mindfulness, ways to disengage from rumination, and practical behavioral tools. You’re running more of it yourself.
Changing Patterns Through Action
We use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and real-life practice to approach what OCD has taught you to fear, while reducing the compulsions that keep it powerful. The emphasis shifts toward you becoming your own therapist. You run the work. I’m the backup.
What We Teach
Teaching Is the Method Here
I explain how your OCD operates so you can tell which strategy fits a situation I've never seen.
Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Behavior analysis is the study of how patterns get learned and maintained, which is exactly what OCD does in your daily life.
Built So You Can Take It Over
The work aims at the point where you handle OCD without needing an appointment.

How will I know when I'm done with therapy?
When you can spot OCD on your own, pick a response that fits, and carry it out without checking with me first. That doesn't necessarily mean the thoughts have gone quiet, and it doesn't need to. We'll talk about it openly as it gets closer.
Where does ERP start, and how fast does it move?
ERP doesn't have to mean immediately confronting your biggest fear. We work collaboratively and systematically, approaching what OCD has taught you to fear while cutting back the compulsions that keep it powerful, and you'll know what we're doing and why before we do it.
Most of my compulsions happen in my head. Does that still count?
Yes. Replaying a conversation for hours, mentally reviewing something from years ago, or checking how you feel about it are all compulsions, even when nobody else can tell they're happening. Mental rituals get the same attention as the ones you can see.
I've already read a lot about OCD. Why would this help?
Reading tells you what OCD is in general. We work out how it operates in your particular case, which is the part that tells you what to do at the moment it shows up.
Does this work over video?
It does. I work with adults across Connecticut by video only, and much of what we practice happens in your own home and your own week, which is exactly where OCD shows up.
The Plan Is Yours to Keep When the Work Is Done
The first step is a free 15-minute phone consultation. We'll talk about what you're experiencing, what OCD is interfering with, and what you want changed, and I'll explain how I work.
After every session I send you a recap of our main talking points, your action plan for the week, and relevant resources or worksheets.
You don't have to wait until you're certain you're ready. That wait is the same move OCD asks for everywhere else. What you're building toward is a life that feels bigger again, and a plan you keep running on your own.
Sessions are billed directly, with superbills provided for out-of-network reimbursement, and costs are explained before the first session.
